Elizabeth R. Villarreal, 76, of Harlingen entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loved ones on December 21, 2021. She was born on March 3, 1945 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She is preceded in death by husband Juan Alvarez Villarreal, son Jesus Javier Villarreal, sister Rosario, and brother Arturo Gonzalez.
She attended Las Fronteras Adult Day Care and enjoyed playing bingo and chalupa, and she loved hand sewing. Elizabeth was also passionate about cooking and was the business owner for JV's Cafe for many years in downtown Harlingen.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories are her children Juan Villarreal, Jr., Jorge (Jeannette) Luis Villarreal, Gilberto (Rachel) Villarreal, Julia Isabel Villarreal, and Jose Francisco Villarreal; 17 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and twin great grandchildren on the way. She is also survived by 4 sisters and 1 brother along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen at 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM. A chapel service will begin Friday, December 24, 2021 at Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at Villarreal Cemetery (Los Olmales).
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Rammy Villarreal, Joe Villarreal, Gilbert Villarreal, Jorge Villarreal, Jesus Medrano, and Ruben Cortez.
