Mary Katherine Merriken, 95, of Reisterstown, MD, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at FutureCare Cherrywood in Reisterstown, MD.
Born on March 5, 1926, at the family home in Glyndon, MD, she was the daughter of the late George Randall and Bertha Lang Randall. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Carl Merriken, Sr., who passed away in 2010.
Mary was a lifetime member of the Glyndon Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting (often for friends and those in need), working in her vegetable garden, and canning and preserving what she grew. Much of her handwork projects were also for veterans and preemies.
Survived by her identical twin sister: Bertha Harris of Pasadena, MD, her sons: Richard Merriken, Jr., of Columbia, MD, Ronnie Merriken of Reisterstown, MD, and Randall Merriken of Charleston, WV, and 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by her son: Russell Merriken, siblings: Marion Zile, George Randall, Virginia Beck and cousin: Evelyn, with whom she was raised.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, December 28, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm, at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 11605 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
A private burial will be held at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD.
