Louise Lambert Green was born October 8, 1912, to Martha and Nathan 'Gray' Lambert in Charleston, SC.

She passed away in Jacksonville, FL on September 4, 2009, almost 97 years old.

She moved to West Palm Beach, FL, as a teenager during the Florida boom of the 1920s, and the family resided in a home her father built on K Street. She had one brother, Wyman Marion Lambert, who passed away in the1980s. Louise managed the luncheonette of McCrory's on Clematis Street for a number of years and was known as Blondie because of her naturally blonde-white hair. She met her husband, Hampton, there, and they were married in Fort Lauderdale October 23, 1930.

Martha Lane was born to the couple in June 1937, and they made their home on Ninth Street and Iris Street, where Louise began a nursery school.

The Greens' son, William Hampton, was born in December 1944. (Ed: Dec 1943 on his marriage certificate.)

Hampton served in the National Guard during the war, was a Minute Man locally, and joined the U.S. Army occupation forces in Japan. During this time, Louise helped her father, Nathan, on his large farm west of town, known as the Golden L Ranch.

When Hampton returned home, the family moved to the country, now North Palm Beach, with Louise serving as a school bus driver in the area and Hampton working as a sign painter and designer for the City of West Palm Beach. He is credited with developing the original red and gray stop sign which was visible at night and honored for this project by 3M. Louise and Hampton made their home in North Palm Beach until 1970 when they moved to Coral Gables to live with their daughter and her husband, Joseph R. Bagby. The family moved to Palm Beach in l980.

Hampton predeceased Louise January 30, 1982, in Palm Beach.

Louise became a member of St Edward Catholic Church, Palm Beach, in 1982. Louise, known affectionately as 'Gam' to everyone, also made her home in Jacksonville, FL. She was a patient at Mayo Hospital and Mayo Clinic during the last few months. She passed away from natural causes.

Louise leaves her daughter, Martha and son-in-law, Joseph; their daughter, Meredith of Los Angeles, New York and Palm Beach; her son, William and his wife, Sheyla; daughter, Mechelle and her daughter, (great-grandchild), Heather Green, all of Pinnacle, NC and a son, William H. Green, Jr. Also mother of Sheyla, Mrs. Marion Hassan of King, NC. Louise had a half-brother, Sonny and a half-sister, Ruth, born to other marriages of her father.

Father Frank Lechiara, pastor of St. Edward, Palm Beach, conducted services September 12 at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, West Palm Beach.

Louise's only ambition in life, she often said, was to be the best mother she possibly could. And she was.

Contributions to Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL and the McGraw Center for Caring (Hospice) on the Mayo Campus in Jacksonville would be lovingly honored and appreciated by all.
