WEBB CITY, Mo. — Harold Dale Short, age 85, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Freeman Medical Center West in Joplin. Mr. Short was born on Oct. 16, 1922, in Liberal, Mo., to Rayel Short and Nora (Smith) Short. Harold had worked for Hercules Powder Company and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, of Webb City. Harold served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years in World War II. Additional memberships include the Carthage Masonic Lodge No. 197 A.F. and A.M., where he was a member for 50 years, Abou Ben Adhem Shrine, of Springfield, Mo., York Rite, of Carthage Mo., and a charter member of the Southwest Missouri Scottish Rite Club. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Marjorie Maxine Short, of the home, whom he married on Jan. 24, 1948, in Eureka Springs, Ark.; two sons, Stephen Short (Gloria), of Fair Grove, and David Short (Susan), of Midlothian, Texas; a daughter, Judy Williams, of Chicago; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, at 11 a.m. at Simpson Funeral Home, of Webb City. Burial with full military rites will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City. There will be a visitation at 10 a.m. Saturday with Masonic services beginning at 10:45 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home, of Webb City.
