Professional and All-American college football player. After graduating from high school in Berwick, Pennsylvania, he went to the University of Pittsburgh. He earned letters in basketball, golf, and football. In 1937 he was captain of the team and garnered first team All-America honors as an end. In 1935, he led the Panthers in both receiving and interceptions. He played in the 1938 East-West Shrine Game. He was a sure pass receiver who also blocked well. He was also the number one player on Pitt's golf team. Although drafted by the New York Giants, he played one year in 1939 for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was the brother of former PGA Tour player Mike Souchak. He played in the U.S. Open, numerous national amateur events and the Masters in 1954.
