CHAMPION — Nicole Barber, 48, of Champion, entered peacefully into eternal life at 3:05 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2021, with her family by her side, in the comfort of her own home under the comforting care of hospice, following a courageously fought battle with cancer.

She was born May 19, 1973, in Fairfield, Calif., the daughter of the late Robert and Karen P. Stutler Russell.

Nicole was a bus driver for the Champion Local School District. She was a member of Bazetta Baptist Church.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, ATV riding, fishing, playing volleyball and frequenting the beach.

Nicole is survived by her loving husband of 12 years, Jason W. Barber, whom she married on Oct. 10, 2009; her two sons, Nathan Russell and Andrew Barber, both at home; and her siblings, Robert (Lisa) Russell of Niles, Michelle Spitler of Cortland and Michael (Oksana) Russell of Austintown. She also is survived by her in-laws, Kathy (Roger) Sapp of Niles and Christopher (Denise) Barber of Howland; her sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Jennifer (Brian) Daniszewski of Columbiana, Janna (Jim) Metzendorf of Warren and Jerry (Stephanie) Barber of Washington, D.C.; by her aunt, Cathy (David) Loomis of Niles and uncle, William Clower of Niles; and by numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

Family will receive friends from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.

A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor Myron Daum officiating.

Burial will follow in Niles City Cemetery, Niles.
