William Edward Grant, age 77, died from complications of pneumonia December 21, 2021 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital, Rockwall Tx.

He was born April 11, 1944 in Marshall Tx to Walter W. and Marjorie L. "Laplace" Grant.

Eddie graduated from Barbers Hill High School along with best friends Joe Hudak and Butch Class of '62. Following graduation he attended The College of Marshall, predecessor to East Texas Baptist University "ETBU" majoring in accounting. He would finish college later in life, achieving a BAcc in accounting. The Vietnam War interrupted his formal education in accounting and provided a valuable and costly education in the aspects of war.

Ed volunteered on November 28th, 1966, for the Officers Candidate School "OCS" and graduated from Ft Gordon, GA infantry School as a 2nd Lieutenant in October 1967. He served in the 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division "Manchus". While serving, he was awarded the "Bronze Star" for his actions and leadership at the battle for Nul Ba Den, May 13th thru the 15th, 1968. After returning home, he was honorably discharged from HHC 163rd Ml Bn, Ft Hood, Tx at the rank of Captain.

After the war, he finished his education, married Beletta Ann Culp, started with Sears, Roebuck and Company and settled in Riley, Tx. They had 2 children, William N. and B'Ann T Grant.

Ed was son of the Republic of Texas "SRT" by birth. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother, Walter Wendell Grant Jr and his son, William Nathanial Grant. Surviving in addition to his daughter B'Ann and husband Christopher Crooks, are his mother, Marjorie L. Grant; sister, Elizibeth "Grant" Hawkins; brother, Charles Grant and his wife Joann, and his precious grand daughters Taylor and Cally Grace Crooks.

A visitation for William will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2:00 PM. A committal service will occur Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
