BLISSFIELD – Helen "Lois" Bailey, 87, of Blissfield died Wednesday evening December 22, 2021 at the Hospice Home of Lenawee in Adrian with her family by her side.

Born January 21, 1934 in Riga, Lois was the daughter of Henry and Anna (Forsyth) Silberhorn. As a young child, she attended her first eight grades of school in a one room schoolhouse near her home in Riga. She then attended and graduated from Blissfield High School. She was also a member St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blissfield.

In 1955, Lois married Forrest Deon Bailey, Jr. Together they raised four children and shared 33 years of love and memories until he preceded her in death in 1988.

Lois cherished her children and grandchildren and loved caring for them and her home. A true "perfectionist," Lois kept her home spotless and her gardens immaculate. She was not only known for her green thumb but for her excellent cooking and baking skills. She also enjoyed knitting and would often have her own yarn spun to create mittens and afghans for her children. Lois found joy and passion in everything she accomplished in life. In the summers, Lois loved living at Devils Lake, and particularly enjoyed taking her children waterskiing and tubing.

Lois is survived by her four children, Dean (Sue) Bailey of Manitou Beach, Mark Bailey of Blissfield, Perry Bailey of Blissfield, and Anita Holland of Adrian; ten grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Forrest; three siblings, Doris Zinn, Dennis Silberhorn, and Elizabeth Kershner; and her son-in-law, Jerry Holland.

A funeral service for Lois will take place on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Wagley Funeral Home, Tagsold Chapel, Blissfield. A live streaming of the service will be accessible from Lois's tribute wall on www.WagleyFuneralHomes.com where a link to view the recording will be available for 90 days. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Blissfield.
