Elwyn "DeVon" Blough, age 94 of Bristol, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence in Battle Creek, MI. DeVon was born on December 1, 1927 in Middlebury, IN to Paul and Ruby Blough. He married Dorothy "Duffy" J. Whalen on February 14, 1948 at Bristol United Methodist Church in Bristol, she preceded him in death on November 20, 2012.
DeVon graduated from Bristol High School Class of 1946. He was a former member of Chapel Hill Missionary Church and Bristol Missionary Church and attended the First Church of God in Bushnell, FL where he and wife Dorothy spent many wonderful years during the winter months. DeVon was a retired farmer and was an avid high school sports fan. He enjoyed gardening. While in Florida he enjoyed being outside, tubing down the river, and bicycling with his friends.
DeVon is survived by his children, Stephen (Nancy) Blough of Shipshewana, Evon (James) Ward of Hillsdale, MI, Beverly Crussemeyer of Bristol, Cassandra Smith of Bristol and Regina (Robert Schaefer, JR.) Blough of Sturgis, MI; 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; his sister Carol Becht of Decatur, AL, daughter-in-law Barbara Blough of Lafayette, TN and his dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sons Tracy Blough and Lance Blough, brothers Roger Blough and Richard Blough, sisters Janet Blough and Janice McCalley and his great-granddaughter Angelina.
A celebration of life for DeVon will be held at 2pm on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 where friends may visit from 12pm- 2pm. Interment will be private at Zion Cemetery next to his wife. Memorial donations may be made to First Church of God, 105 E. Central Ave., Bushnell, FL 33513.
