SAN ANTONIO - Margie Chapman Becker passed away peacefully in her sleep Feb. 1, 2021, a day after celebrating her 95th birthday.A lifelong Texan, she was born Jan. 30, 1926 in Cleburne, Texas and was raised there until she was an adolescent. She spent the rest of her life in Fort Worth, Texas, first working at General Dynamics before moving to Retail Credit Company, which became Equifax. On March 24, 1945, she married Jim Becker, the boy next door who became the love of her life.After 16 years, she gave birth to her only daughter, Shari.
Upon retiring from Equifax, she joined the staff of her church, Westcliff United Methodist, and served as the church administrator for over two decades.When Westcliff merged with Arborlawn United Methodist, she transitioned her working status to one of devoted volunteer, continuing that service until the pandemic began in March 2020.
Marge was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, James Preston Becker; and her mother, Mary Wyatt Chapman.
She is survived by her daughter, Shari Becker Albright; sister and brother-in-law, Betty Sue and William E. Feddersen; nephew, Bruce Becker; and nieces, Jill Becker Gibson and Gail Becker Nugen and their families.
Marge lived a life of love and faithful service, particularly through her 57 years of membership and leadership at her church.She was known for her kind smile, welcoming and funny greetings, pet names, and love and friendship to family, friends and colleagues alike.She brought light and love to all she touched.
