Virginia Jo Long Gamble, of Chattanooga, Tennessee died Friday, January 25, 2013 at Waterford Gardens Assisted Living in Atlanta, GA, peacefully with her family by her side.

Born in Chattanooga, TN, August 26, 1927, to Joseph Thomas Long and Fannie Phillips Long, Virginia, known as Ginny, attended Chattanooga City High School. After marrying, she moved to Spring City, TN where she spent 25 years devotedly raising her three children, Sue, Lynn and Steve. She moved back in 1974 to Chattanooga and worked for and retired from Hamilton Country Government Finance. Virginia was involved in the Widow's Ministry, active in her church, and enjoyed walking and spending time in her garden. She loved enjoying time with good friends and family and loved to cook for them.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Sue Thomas and Lynn Crocker, and by son, Steve Gamble and his wife, Anne; grandchildren Dee and wife, Helen; Kenna and husband, Doug; Jay and wife, Michelle; Brandon and Michael; and great grandchildren Hayley, Connor, Harrison, Landry and Rylan. Also surviving are siblings, Robert Long; Johnnie Hammontree, husband Eston; Richard Long, wife Pat; Leonard Long, wife Trudy; Martha Watson, husband Bill; Mary Eaton, husband Edward; and several generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 27 at 2:00pm with the Funeral immediately to follow at 3:00pm at the Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel
