Kathleen McInnis Sweat, 96, died Saturday evening (Sept. 3, 2005) at the Hospice of Golden Isles following a short illness. She was a native of Brooks County, but had lived most of her life in Waycross before moving to Waverly in 1987.
She was the daughter to the late Ezekiel Stone McInnis and Naomi Elizabeth Meadow McInnis. She was married to the late Daniel Edward Sweat and was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Edward Sweat Jr. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel O'Steen and Viola Cowart Eunice, and a brother, John McInnis.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Brunswick and a former member of Deenwood Baptist Church of Waycross.
Survivors include five daughters, Eloise McCrary (husband Claude) of Brunswick, Merle Kimbrell (late husband Hubert) of Waverly, Ruth Lopez (late husband Julian) of High Springs, Fla., Linda Strickland (husband Bob) of Scottsboro, Ala. and Vivian Ragan (husband Jim) of Waverly; one daughter-in-law, Tally Sweat of Atlanta; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral was scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to the Hospice of Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga. 31525.

A funeral for Kathleen McInnis Sweat took place Tuesday morning in the Music Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Nobles and the Rev. Jack Stolte officiating. Burial was in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
Serving as active pallbearers were Mike Lopez, Bobby Strickland, Steave Sweat, Chad Ragen, Ronnie Kimbrell and Tim Strickland.
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Sweat, Dave Strickland and Dan McCrary.
