Beverly (Boynton) French (1934 – 2015)

AUBURN – Beverly (Boynton) French, 80, of Kingfield, died peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at the Androscoggin Hospice House.

Beverly leaves behind her daughter, Katherine Newcomb and her husband David; daughter, Julie Hansen; son, Scott French and his wife Melissa; daughter, Delaney Fessler and her husband Craig.

She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Abby Masterman and her husband Ethan, Lucas Newcomb, Mahlon Hansen, Jesse Newcomb, Jacob Newcomb, Noah French, Wyatt Fessler and Ella Fessler; and her great-grandsons Elliott Masterman and Liam Masterman; her sister, Linda Norton, and her husband Hubert; her nephew Jonathan Norton and his wife Annette; niece Tara Dubay and her husband Chad and their two sons, Sam Dubay and Chad Dubay Jr. and her many close friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Richard French, her mother Oscarene French and her nephew David Norton.

Beverly was born in Kingfield on November 14, 1934.

She enjoyed hiking and skiing the mountains that made up her backyard. After graduating from Kingfield High School in 1952, Beverly traveled to Portland to attend Plus Gray's Business School. She left Portland with her degree in hand and four wonderful friends who would be with her throughout her life. Back in Kingfield, she began her accounting career at Sugarloaf Mountain and embarked on her true life's calling—the role of wife and mother.

A talented artist, there wasn't a craft that she didn't dabble in, but Beverly's true artistry was found in her beautiful quilts and knitted pieces, certainly the most cherished gifts under the Christmas tree. The holidays were truly special in Beverly's house. She loved a crowd and she was never happier than when surrounded by family for the holidays—grandchildren on her lap and lobster stew on the stove.

Beverly also shared a love of gardening with her husband Dick. Together, they would grow beautiful flowers and a lush vegetable garden that would feed them and their family through the winter. Beverly and Dick also loved sailing. They spent many warm summer days exploring the Maine coast in their sailboat, the Delaney B.

In gratitude for the compassionate care that Beverly received and in lieu of flowers, her family has requested donations go to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, 15 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2014 from 1 to 4 p.m., at Beverly's home, 185 Main Street, Kingfield, Maine.

Arrangements under the care of Adams-McFarlane Funeral & Cremation Services, 108 Court St., Farmington. Condolences may be sent for the family at www.adamsmcfarlane.com
