Doris Mae Gray, 94, of Butler, died on Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, at 3:02 p.m. at Aviston Countryside Manor.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Elm Lawn Memorial Park in Litchfield.

Mrs. Gray was born Oct. 5, 1926, in Hillsboro, to Russel and Harriet E. (Maddox) Stephenson. She married Joseph A. Gray on Dec. 15, 1945, in Hillsboro, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1996.

She was a wonderful homemaker, who also worked at The Gardens for over 30 years.

Mrs. Gray attended Butler Union Church in Butler, and devoted her entire life to raising her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She delighted in their achievements most of all; attending all of the extracurricular activities and sporting events she was able to.

She was an outstanding cook. With Christmas being her favorite holiday, she delighted in decorating and baking for it. She was an avid gardener and loved to raise all types of flowers and vegetables. She loved nature, especially birds and all wildlife, and the games of chance.

Mrs. Gray and her husband of 50 years enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her children, Joseph (Zonia) Gray of Butler, James (Colleen) Gray of Amboy, Jean Sheridan of Breese and Jackie Gray of Taylor Springs; grandchildren, Tim and Terri Gray, Aaron Gray, Katie Gray Henkel, Jacob Gray, Lisa Sheridan Albers, Jenny Sheridan Mondt, Scott Sheridan, Rachael Hudgins, Raz Steward, Rex Gray, Neil Osborn and Evan Boone; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George, Willis and Benny Stephenson; two sisters, Joyce Leetham and Marcella Boone; and an infant grandson, Corby Sheridan.
