Buckels – Margaret Ruth Buckels-Nelson, age 79, of Callahan, Florida passed away on December 20, 2021, at Community Hospice Jane and Bill Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Florida. She was born in Jacksonville, FL on October 3, 1942, to the late Ellery Howard and Vesta Kirkland Howard. Margaret was an avid gardener who was passionate about tending to her flowers. She loved traveling, sight-seeing, fishing, and going to the beach. Margaret was employed at the United States Postal Service as a Mail Carrier. She was full of life and certainly lived to the fullest. She loved watching every sunrise and sunset especially with her sweet family by her side. More than anything, Margaret loved spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by parents; son, Gene Buckels; half-brothers, Melvin Howard and Alvin Howard; granddaughter, Jennifer Perry-Drury; niece, Valarie Crews Lee; nephews, Charles Perry and Ken Howard.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 10 years, David Nelson of Callahan, FL; children, Christy (Joe) Highsmith, Connie (Keith) Brinson, and Bonnie (Paul) Buckels all of Bryceville, FL; brothers, James (Donnie) Howard of Bryceville, FL, Louis (Ruth) Howard of Jacksonville, FL, Harold (Merlene) Howard of St. George, GA; sister, Margie (Ted) Crews of St. George, GA; 3 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Margaret's Life will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 11:00 am at Nassau Funeral Home with Brother Ted Crews officiating. Interment will follow at Mill Creek Cemetery in Hilliard, Florida. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 23, 2021, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at the funeral home.
