Richard L. Rush, 81, of Marysville died unexpectedly Sunday at his residence. He was a sales clerk at McAuliffe's Hardware.

He spent his working years in the service industry and, in later years, had been employed at McAuliffe's for over 15 years. A very social person, he never knew a stranger enjoying his customers and friends at the hardware. His work ethic confirmed the fact that he never wanted to retire.

Richard attended the Marysville Christian Church and was a former member of the Marion Lions Club. A man of great faith and character, he always enjoyed going to prayer meetings, attending Bible study at the church, and never had a cross word to say about anyone. He just loved being with people. In recent times, he enjoyed working on his "Bucket List" which, among other things, included Kayaking.

He was born May 1, 1940 in Richwood to the late Marion and Esther Storey Rush. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister Mary Lou Rush.

Richard is survived by his children, Thomas D. Rush, Sheila (Jeff) Moore both of Marion, Becky (Adam) Layne of Galion; 4 grandchildren, Ashlee (Jordan) Gruber, Meaghan (Benjamin) Lewis, Dustin (Isabella) Moore, Dylan Layne; 7 great grandchildren, Kira, Addie, Jace, Madalyn, Callie, Ryland, Journee; siblings, Shirley Daniel of Marysville, Joyce (Fred) Richardson of Marion, and Danny (Bobbi) Rush of Hilton Head, SC.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, December 28th, from 4-6pm at the Ingram Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 6pm with the Revs. David Rush and Ed Beeson officiating. The family would appreciate the wearing of masks for the safety of all attending.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Christmas Care Train or charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
