Jackie Norman "Jack" Murray was born May 11, 1934 to Melvin and Gertrude (James) Murray in Des Moines, Iowa.

Jack was educated in the Des Moines public school system, where he attended East High School. He was a champion wrestler during his high school years, and followed all other sports as an adult.

Jack was inducted into the United States Army in May of 1956. He honorably served and was discharged In 1957. He then was employed by Armstrong Tire and Rubber as a tire builder. Jack retired from Armstrong after 35 years of faithful service.

Jack was a people person. He loved meeting and talking to people and was ready with a joke to brighten your day. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He would always put his family and others before his needs or wants. He also loved fishing, hunting and model trains. He kept busy by calling Bingo at the Senior Center, playing cards and dominoes and keeping an immaculate yard and garden. He and Joan loved to travel, also. He belonged to the "Friends of the Forest Ave Library" as well.

Jack passed away November 24th, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Gertrude Murray; his first wife, Ruby; his son, Jack Jr., his brothers, Jerry, Anthony, Edgar, Arthur, Gene and Dale and his sisters, Louise and Debbie.

Left to mourn Jack's passing are his wife, Joan; his sons, Ronnie and Jonathan (Rhonda) Murray; siblings, Paula Clayborne, Cony Ivy, Mary Jo Murray and Helen Oakley; grandchildren, Morgan Murray-Eiran and Jonathan Murray Jr; great grandchild, Antonio Flores; nephews, including David Wood; nieces, several step children; other extended family members and friends.
