Born October 29, 1932, in Dallas County, MO, he was the son of the late Ira J. Carter and Dolly Walters Carter. Kenny attended the Missouri School for the Blind from kindergarten to graduation from high school. He then graduated from Missouri Valley College in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in human relations.
On August 9, 1963, he married Reba Sue Swift who survives of the home. Kenny lived in Marshall most of his life and was a charter member of Southside Assembly of God Church.
Kenny received his schooling in piano tuning and repair at the Missouri School for the Blind. He furthered his education by attending the Piano Hospital and Training Center in Vancouver, WA, learning more advanced grand piano repair. He owned and operated Carter Piano Service for over 60 years and serviced a wide area including three universities. He was a member of the Piano Technician's Guild, Inc. for many years.
He was an avid music lover playing the guitar, bass guitar, and singing with Reba. Kenny and Reba recorded a gospel album entitled "Heaven For Me" and had quite a music ministry singing in churches and various events. Kenny was also an amateur radio enthusiast. He even had his own radio broadcast on KMMO in Marshall and always concluded his program by saying "If you have the Son of God in your heart, you'll always see the light."
Through the years, Kenny and Reba enjoyed fun times with friends at the lake fishing, boating, and water skiing, and yes, he could water ski! They traveled to Piano Technician Conventions and Seminars across the nation and then would vacation in that area, as well as spending 18 winters in Arizona.
In addition to his wife of over 58 years, Reba; he is survived by three siblings: Karl Carter (Daralene) of Lone Jack, Nellie Carolyn Rapp (Paul) of rural Slater, Joseph Carter of Marshall and Gladyce Honsinger of Lee's Summit; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Shirley Fowler, Richard Carter, Darrel Carter and Jesse Carter.
