Leslie M. Williams, age 94, of Lincoln, Missouri passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021 at his home. He was born on August 11, 1927* in Doe Run, Missouri the son of Ode Williams and Ethyl Rea (Johnson) Williams. He grew up in Doe Run, Missouri and served in the United States Army from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1952. He was united in marriage to Pauline Betch on April 6, 1953 at the Lafayette Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri. They made their home in St. Louis, moving to Willow Springs, Missouri and later to Patton, Missouri and Blackwell, Oklahoma, before coming to Lincoln in 2003.
Les worked as a truck driver for thirty-seven years, thirty of which was with Campbell 66 Express in St. Louis. He was a member and ordained deacon at the Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church in Willow Springs, Missouri and the London Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cherokee Pass, Missouri. He was a member of the Teamsters Local #600 in St. Louis, Missouri. Les loved to fish and tinker in his garage. He was a jack of all trades and loved to help his family and friends with his talents.
He is preceded in death by his wife Pauline Williams, a daughter Katherine Lorene Sale, four brothers and four sisters.
Funeral Services for Leslie M. Williams were held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, Missouri with Pastor Barry Edwards officiating. Interment and Military Rites followed the funeral at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.
While his obituary gave him a birth date of August 11, the VA sets the date at February 11.
