James Dale Whitaker, 77, husband of Becky Cumby Whitaker, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at his home in High Bridge. On October 6, 1944, he was born in Jessamine County to the late Virgil Whitaker and Pearl Sharp Whitaker. He was a self-employed heating and air conditioning contractor for over 50 years. Jim will be remembered and missed by many friends and relatives, and he never met a stranger. Bill Cumby and Raymond Cumby are two special brothers-in-law who will remember all the good times they had fishing, hunting, and family get-togethers. He is survived by his wife, Becky Whitaker, and daughter, Beverly Rangel, as well as two brothers, Victor Whitaker and Ray (Pat) Whitaker, and two sisters, Doris Ann Adams and Mary Lyle Cartwright, three grandchildren, Lacy Taylor, Adriana Rangel, and Tyler Rangel, and three great-grandchildren, Kaylee Taylor, Christian Taylor, and Eliana Rangel. He is preceded in death by one sister, Virgie Hager, and one great-granddaughter, MacKenzie McClanahan. On Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 12 PM, services will be at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Leonard Fitch and Bro. Rodney Murphy is officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of service. Graveside services will follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers will be Frank Daugherty, Raymond Cumby, Dwight Daugherty, Tyler Rangel, Josh Ramey, and Bill Cumby. Eddie Fox, Martin Lowery, Richard Horton, David Bond, Roy Barnes, and Donny Anderson will be Honorary bearers. Memorial donations are suggested to be made to the American Cancer Society.
