He was born in Wardville, Oklahoma, to John Nelson and Nancy Merytle (Davis) Lewis. He married Gladys Lucille Latham on Dec. 24, 1937, in Wardville. He worked at Lime Stone Rockcrusher as a equipment operator and loader. He was a member of the Kiowa Masonic Lodge. He was a resident of Coalgate and passed away at his home at the age of 89. Survivors include three sons, Archie Ray Lewis and wife, Nita, of Coalgate, John Albert Lewis and wife, Sherry, Sanger, Texas, and Dean Lewis and wife, Carolyn, Gunbarrel, Texas; four daughters, Lonnie Fay Johnson and husband, Chester, of Wardville, Wonnie Fay McAfee and husband, Eugene, of Byars, Linda Sue Labor and husband, John, of Pittsburg, and Alma Shackelford and husband, Danny, of Krebs. Also, 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and daughters-in-law, Edna Vaught, of Chickasha, and Joy Lewis, Lake Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two sons, Donald Lee Lewis and Perry Edward Lewis; infant daughter, Modessa Lewis; grandson, Eric Lewis; granddaughter, Janice Lewis; great-granddaughter, Rachel Spears; brothers, Denver Lewis and Boyce Lewis, and sister, Quiva Lewis.
