Robert "Robo" Lane - January 23, 1941 - December 18, 2021
Benton, Kansas - Lane, Robert Lawrence "Robo", 80, retired Boeing Employee, passed away at his residence at Glen Carr House in Derby on December 18, 2021.
Robert was born on January 23, 1941 in rural Cowley County to Albert Lawrence "A.L." and Marie {Hill} Lane. The family lived in Haverhill, Council Grove and Wilsey when Robert was young. He spent a lot of time working and hunting and fishing which were passions. After graduating from Wilsey High School, Robo moved to Wichita in 1960 where he met Vera O'Neal at Pawnee Ave Church of God, and they were later married there in 1966. In 1974, they moved their family of 4 to Benton and lived there until 2020. Robo was very active in his community, especially the Benton Lions Club, and served on the Benton City Council for 13 years. In 1987, Robo and Vera helped start Hope Community Church in Andover, KS and were very active in it as well, including Vera helping start the Bullfrogs and Butterflies preschool. After 25+ years with Boeing, Robo retired to spend his time working on outdoor and car projects, attending sporting events of his grandchildren and traveling. As a mechanically inclined person, Robo's hobbies included rebuilding several cars, performing nearly all his own maintenance, built several smokers for himself and others. He was always willing to help anybody else fix anything they brought to him as well. Later in life he bought a Ford Cobra kit car and enjoyed attending car shows and was very active in the El Dorodders Car Club in El Dorado.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Hope Community Church, 1831 E. 21st St. N., Andover. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m., also at Hope Community Church with Pastor Steve Weldon officiating. Burial will follow in Benton Cemetery, Benton, KS.
