OPELOUSAS ~ Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Savior's Church in Opelousas (202 Our Savior's Church Blvd, Opelousas, LA 70570) for Eddie Dean Brown, age 60, who passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.

The Rev. Dwayne Norman will officiate at the services.

Mr. Brown, affectionately known as "Deanie", was a native of Lafayette and a lifelong resident of Opelousas. In his younger years, Deanie worked in agriculture before becoming employed with St. Landry Parish School Board as a school bus operator. He will be remembered as a man with a strong work ethic, a passionate supporter of the New Orleans Saints, and as a great listener. Mr. Brown dedicated his life to Christ and towards the final months of his life, he became an avid prayer warrior and pulled others out of their comfort zone to share in his joy of praying. He had an incredibly kind heart and was the ultimate friend, he was extremely generous, and would do anything for his loved ones, and was also very forgiving - he never gave up on anyone. Perhaps most of all, Eddie enjoyed selling watermelon and sweet potatoes, listening to music, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, who will all miss him dearly.

Survivors include his spouse of 40 years, Vera Brown of Opelousas; his children, Eddie Desmond Brown, Sr. and his wife, Danielle, of Opelousas, and Valaniecia Coleman and her husband, Errick, of Houston; his mother, Eunice Brown of Grand Coteau; his grandchildren, Arianna Charisse Brown, Eddie Desmond Brown, Jr., Christopher Lee Brown, Kobe Dean Brown, Kaleb Michael Brown, Ethan Matthias Coleman, and Judah Mateo Coleman; his siblings, Jerome Brown, John Brown and his wife, Leslie, and Jennifer Brown; and a lifelong friend, Daniel Brown (Lisa).

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Brown; a brother, Herbert Charles Pete; two nephews, Jerome "Baby" Brown and Marcus Brown; three brothers-in-law, Delbert, Darrell, and Donald LaFleur; one sister-in-law, Verma Thibodeaux; and two nieces, VaShayla and VcQuetta LaFleur.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Our Savior's Church in Opelousas (202 Our Savior's Church Blvd, Opelousas, LA 70570) from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until service time on Wednesday.

Melancon Funeral Home of Opelousas, (337) 407-1907, is in charge of arrangements.
