Gruetli-Laager, Tennessee – Mr. Charles Benny Burnett. 86, passed away at his home Sunday December 19, 2021. He was born in Coalmont, Tennessee on November 1, 1935 to Grover Cleveland Burnett and Ola Grooms Burnett who preceded him in death along with his brother and sister-in-law, Carl David and Frankie Burnett; sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgia and Herbert Ricketts and Virgina R. "Punk" and Howard Shirley Cunningham.

Benny worked as a sewing machine mechanic for Colonial Corporation and Basham Industries for 40 years. He was a US ARMY veteran, member of the and former Deacon of the Laager Independent Methodist Church. He was poultry grower for Tyson also for many years. Benny was loved by all who knew him and will be missed greatly by those who loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rachel Payne Burnett; special nephews, Carly Wayne Payne and Rusty Payne; brother, Ralph (Late Doris) Burnett; a host of other loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Matthew Meeks and Jacob Anderson officiating with burial to follow in the Fall Creek Cemetery.

Visitation: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM Monday at Layne Funeral Home, Palmer, Tennessee.
