She was one of the founders of the Sisters Of Bon Secours in France. She was given the name of Sister Mary Joseph and became the first Superior General of the order. Since her death all who have become the Superior General have taken the name of Mary Joseph.The Sisters Of Bon Secours have centers in 9 states as well as their world wide headquarters in France She died of tuberculosis and was buried on May 9, 1826 in the cimetiere de montparnasse in Paris, france
