Ruth married the love of her life, Cecil Raymond Taylor, on December 19, 1944. They were married for 57 years and raised a wonderful family.
Ruth loved gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, singing, and spoiling her grandchildren. She was a woman of great faith and a member of the Church of Christ her entire life.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two daughters, Donna Sue Taylor and Baby Girl Taylor, her brother, Albert Pittman, and sister, Lina Park.
She is survived by her daughters, Cecilia McCain of Semmes, Vanessa Cornelson (Steve) of Butler, five grandsons, John McCain (Lynn) of Leesburg, GA, Patrick McCain of Semmes, Truitt Cornelson (Tabitha) of Butler, Matthew Cornelson of Tuscaloosa, and John David Cornelson (Christy) of Saraland.
Ruth also had nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Phillips Funeral Home in Gilbertown, with Brother Ben McPeak officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon prior to the service. Interment will follow in Gilbertown Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be John McCain, Patrick McCain, Truitt Cornelson, Matthew Cornelson, John David Cornelson, and Jeff Deavours.
Flowers will be graciously accepted by the family or donations may be made in memory of Ruth to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, the Choctaw County Public Library, 124 N. Academy Ave., Butler, AL, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
