Ida Virginia White Jones, at the age of eighty-three (83), was called home to rest on Friday, July 16, 2021. She was born on January 11, 1938 to the late Orville White, Sr. and Kathleen Rhock-White of Somerset County, Maryland. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, the late John Jones.

She began her formal education at Salisbury High School in Salisbury, Maryland and later moved to New York in 1959 where she completed her studies in Brooklyn. From 1964 to 1967, she was employed with the Rand Rubber Company in Brooklyn. From 1967 to 1970 she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Kings County State Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. She was also employed as a (CNA) at Willowbrook Psychiatric Hospital from 1970 to 1974 and later became employed at the State of New York Supreme Court as a secretary and telephone operator where she met her husband.

After a few years, Ida retired and became a stay-at-home wife and mother. She was known for loving life to its fullest, speaking her mind, telling life stories and jokes, spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and all who were connected through them. She loved watching sports and was an excellent cook. Ida had a love for jazz music and she enjoyed attending concerts, traveling and dancing.

As a member of the Improved Benevolent and Protected Order of Elks of the World, Inc. (I.B.P.O.E of the World, Inc.), Ida joined Success Temple No. 154 in Salisbury, Maryland in 1981 serving on and co-chairing several committees. She became a member of the Bessie Leonard and Ethel K. Jews Council in 1982. In 1983, she received her past state honors in Dover, Delaware. After moving to New York, she became a member of Industry Temple No. 576 in 1997 and held the position as a financial secretary. She later returned to Salisbury, Maryland where her membership was reinstated at Success Temple No. 154. Ida was a faithful daughter throughout her membership.

Precious memories of Ida's life and legacy will be cherished by: three daughters, Janice Henry, Annette White and Sylvia White, all of Salisbury, Maryland; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special nephew, Jimmy (Karen) White and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and best friends.

Ida was preceded in death by her two sons, Wenston White and Darnell White, Sr., three brothers, Melvin White, Orville White, Jr. and Larry White, Sr., one granddaughter, Shemika T. White (Missy) and one daughter-in-law, Regina White.
