Redkey - Richard "Dick" Glenn Phillips, 98, of Redkey, IN, passed away Wednesday, December 15th, 2021 peacefully at IU Health Jay County Hospital in Portland, IN. Dick was born in Smoky Junction, TN, on July 7, 1923, a son of the late Artensie (Anderson) and Richard L. Phillips. He was a 1941 graduate of Mann High School in West Virginia. Dick was a Shift Foreman at Kerr Glass in Dunkirk, IN, and the loving husband of Priscilla Phillips who he happily married on August 3, 1947 and sadly lost on December 29, 1993. He attended First American Baptist Church, enjoyed woodworking, western's, the Yankee's, Reds, bluegrass music, traveling to 48 of our 50 states, mowing, being outdoors, movies, telling stories and visiting with family. Dick was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who didn't know a stranger, he just had friends he hadn't met yet. He is survived by 5 sons; Gary Phillips (wife Kathy), Ed Phillips (wife Cathy), Jeff Phillips (wife Alisa), Steve Phillips (wife Vanessa), Stu Phillips (wife Michelle), 1 daughter; Mary Stafford (husband Doug), 1 brother; Larry E. Phillips (wife Nellie), 2 sisters; Eileen Stanley, Evalee Garrison, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, first wife; Jewel Spurlock, and mother of his children; Priscilla Phillips. Friends are invited to call Monday, December 20, 2021 from 10 AM to 12 PM at MJS Mortuaries - Redkey Chapel. Graveside services will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Redkey, IN, at 12:30 PM with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association. At the request of the family masks will be required of all visitors regardless of vaccine status. Arrangements entrusted to MJS Mortuaries - Redkey Chapel.
