Edith Johnson Harris, made her peaceful transition, at The
Delaware Hospice Center, on July 20, 2021.

In her early childhood, Edith, affectionately named
"Sweetheart", by her father, received her early education
at P.F. DuPont School in Harrington, Delaware. She later
received her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) specialist
certification.

She continued her talent with the (Visiting
Nursing Association) VNA, as well as, private duty
companion in home healthcare.

Edith enjoyed her family and took great pride in the
number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren and spending quality time
with them. She enjoyed teaching them in Sunday School at Mt. Moriah Church
of the Living God in Harrington, Delaware. She loved to cook and would let you know if what you cooked did or didn't suit her taste. She also enjoyed restaurant outings. She was never short on words and very passionate about her spiritual beliefs. Her most favorite songs were "One Day at A Time," "Precious Lord" and "He Paid a Debt He Did Not Owe." Her favorite sayings were, "Oh, I know what the Lord has done for me" and "I trust Him." In the middle of her conversation, she would always insert "Glory to God" and then she would continue what she was saying. You'd often hear her say "I know who's keeping me". She was grateful that she could cook, clean and drive to Walmart. She cherished every and anything that was given to her, no matter how big or how small. In her quiet time, she loved doing crossword puzzles and watching her old-time westerns a.k.a. "Cowboys."

Sweetheart was preceded in death by her father, Arthur J. Johnson; mother, Edith Johnson; three brothers, William "Bill", Robert "Bobby" and Curtis Johnson; five sisters, Anna Lee Johnson, Virginia Benson, Marian Anderson, Delema Taylor and Lucille Mosley; and one son, Jonathan Savage.

Edith leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Gloria Jean Jones; eight children, Barbara Jean Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Anna Lee May, Lucille Johnson Williams, Sabrina V. Reid, Sheila Harris, Marian Harris and Randall Harris; 23 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and 66 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her family members, Edith "Sweetheart" was supported and loved as a mother by Crystal Riley and a special friend, Shirley Fountain.
