Johnny Foster Clingingsmith was the youngest son of Alex and Lucy Belle Clingingsmith. Alex was born in Illinois in 1859 and Lucy Belle was born in 1865 in Missouri. They made their home in Nocona, Montague County, Texas, at least during the 1900 to 1920 time period. Alex apparently died between 1910 and 1920 as Lucy Belle is listed as a widow with her children in 1920. The Clingingsmiths had at least five children: James P. (born 1883 in MO); Maud (born 1885 in MO); Mintie (born 1888 in MO); Edith (born 1895 in TX) and John Foster (born 1904 in TX).
The relation to the Hillards comes with Maud Clingingsmith who married E.T. (Edward Thomas or Thomas Edward in some places) Hillard in 1904 and in 1910 they are listed in Nocona, Montague County, Texas with two children, Bert Lee (age 4) and Roy (age 2). E.T. Hillard was the brother of James W. Hillard. Their parents were Thomas (J.T.) Hillard (born Jan 1853 in NC) and Matilda Hillard (born 1858 in AR) who lived in Kings River, Madison County, Arkansas from at least 1880 to 1900. Maud died in Jan 1973 and is buried in Nocona Cemetery, Montagaue County, Texas.
James W. married in 1905, Mary Elizabeth Hammons, daughter of Jacob & Amanda Margaret (Finch) Hammons.
