St. Matthews - Carolyn B. "Jean" Bair, 86, of St. Matthews, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2019. She was the wife of the late Richard B. "Bunny" Bair. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Hutto-Bair Family Cemetery, off St. Matthews Road near Hutto's Transmission, with family members officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the graveside. Carolyn was born in Orangeburg County, daughter of the late Leo Wells Baltzegar and the late Clara McMillan Baltzegar. She was a graduate of Orangeburg High School, active in the PTA organization and worked as a switchboard operator for Southern Bell and PBX operator and supervisor for Orangeburg Regional Hospital. Carolyn was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church and was a caregiver for many of her family members. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie B. French (Jerry) of St. Matthews; son, Rick Bair (Paula) of St. Matthews; brother, Jack Baltzegar (Elaine) of West Columbia; a special niece, Elaine Porter (Julian) of Bolentown; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Karyn), Joshua (Rui), Rebekah (Lee) and Rachel (Ted); great-grandchildren, Jake and Sophia, Cameron, Caitlin, Chapel, Arden, and Asher; and a number of nieces and nephews.
