Carolyn was the daughter of Marshall Lynn McLeroy Sr and Mildred Knight McLeroy. She was educated in the Putnam County School System and was a Class of 1953 graduate of Putnam County High School in Eatonton, Georgia. She attended Georgia College and graduated in 1976 with a Batchelor Degree of Science in Nursing. She maintained a 3.8 GPA on the Dean's List while working full time. She was employed with the Central State Hospital in Milledgeville, Georgia as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1999.She also volunteered as a pink lady at Putnam General Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, playing bridge, going to auctions and estate sales. She was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church in Eatonton, Georgia where she was a member of the Choir.

She was married to John Ducan Harper on December 10, 1955, they were married for 64 years.

Husband: John Duncan Harper Sr.
4 Sons: Ben Harper, Bruce Harper(Danita), Burton Harper(Melodie) and Terry Harper.
3 Brothers: Pierce McLeroy(Linda), Marshall "Lynn" McLeroy Jr(June) and Terry McLeroy(Patti).
10 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 4PM in the Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery in Eatonton, Georgia with Pastor Karen Compton officiating.
