Christopher L. "Chris" Duncan, 59, passed away Friday, June 04, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones.
Chris was born at Chennault Air Force Base July 30, 1961, during the time his father was stationed at the base. He was a graduate of Barbe High School Class of 1979 and of Sowela Technical Institute. In 1988, he opened Chris Duncan Agency and continued to work alongside his wife until he recently became too ill. Chris was a charter member of Christian Life Church of Sulphur and truly lived the City of Sulphur Motto of "Faith, Family and Community". Chris served on Sulphur City Council, representing District 3 from 2004 – 2010; and was the Mayor of Sulphur from 2010 – 2018. He was an active member and president of Sulphur Armed Forces Committee, a charter member of the Sulphur Sunrise Rotary Club serving in many capacities and as the current president. He was also an active member of the Sulphur Ministerial Fellowship, Board member of Calcasieu Council on Aging and volunteered at the Sulphur Senior Center. Chris was passionate in his service to others, encouraging Sulphur's youth and was a proud supporter of all sports programs in Sulphur.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Angel Duncan; son, Nik Duncan and wife Amberly of Sulphur; daughters Kathryn Duncan and husband Chris Walkin of Lake Charles, and Madison Duncan and her fiancée', Kyle Griffen; his grandchildren, Samson, Lilette and Carrington; brother, Wes Duncan, Jr. and wife Hope of Florida; and sister, Trina Miller of Moss Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wes and Mary Duncan.
Funeral Services honoring Chris' life will be at 10 am, Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Johnson & Robison Funeral Home of Sulphur. Rev. Marcus Wade will officiate. Visitation will be held in the funeral home from 4 – 8pm, Tuesday and will resume Wednesday, at 9am until time of service at 10. Words of comfort and memories may be shared with the family at www.robisonfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sulphur Armed Forces Committee, Inc.
