Ronald "Ronnie" D. Fair, 68, of Troy, Ohio, passed away on December 19, 2007 at Harborside Health Care, Troy, Ohio after a brief illness. Ronnie will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was born August 19, 1939 in Troy, to the late Paul M. and Vernelle (Gilliland) Fair. His wife of 42 years, Julie A. (Burge) Fair of Troy, survives.
He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ronald D. Fair II and Cindy (Ault) Fair of Springboro, Ohio; daughters and sons-in-law: Kelly Kristen and Jon Berry of Troy and Elizabeth Ann and Jeff Arndt of Miamisburg, Ohio; and seven beloved grandchildren: Alexandra, Meaghan, Libby and Katherine Fair, Sophie and Chloe Berry, and Samuel Arndt. He is also survived by his dogs, Tyler and Jenny, who miss him greatly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Vernelle, and older brother Paul L. (Corky) Fair.
Ronnie grew up in Troy where he attended Troy schools and graduated in 1957. He attended Miami University where he majored in music. He was an accomplished pianist.
His true love was growing flowers. He took over his family's business, Fair's Greenhouse where he worked his entire life as the owner and third generation operator. For many years, Ronnie worked with the City of Troy Beautification Committee and was responsible for growing and maintaining all flowers for the City of Troy. Ronnie spent the last several years growing flowers for Fulton Farms.
His many interests included music, walleye fishing in Ontario, playing tennis, woodworking, bird watching and especially spending quality time with his grandchildren.
Ronnie also served six years in the US Air Force Reserves and was a former member of the Troy Rotary Club.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with Jim Fulton officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Troy. Friends may call from 5-8PM Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Miami County Humane Society.
