Gastonia, NC

Karen Craig Bentley, 61, of Gastonia, passed away at CaroMont Regional Medical Center on Monday, December 13, 2021. She was a daughter of Harold Wilson Craig and Flora Ann Brendle Craig.

Karen was a lifelong member of Myers Memorial United Methodist Church and was faithful in her service. She served on the Pastor Parrish Committee, taught Sunday School, counseled with the youth of the church, and served on the Bereavement Committee as well. Karen was known for the generosity and time she devoted to others. She was an extremely giving person. It wasn't unusual for Karen to have an open-door to her home, where she fostered children who were very young and through their teens. Karen was an avid online shopper and she loved taking beach trips with her family where she would spend hours lounging around the pool. She also enjoyed cooking large family meals and taking photographs of all family celebrations, only to give the pictures to other family members.

Karen's survivors include her husband, Thomas Bently; daughter, Kaci Wilcox (Justin); sons, Brandon Messick and Tyler Clark; sister, Sheila Craig Sage (Michael); niece, Mikayla Sage; grandchildren, Matthew and Brinkley Wilcox, along with eight other grandchildren.

There will be a visitation at Myers Memorial United Methodist Church on Sunday, December 26, 2021 from 1 o'clock until 2:30 pm. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 pm, with Pastor Sallie Queen officiating.
