Susan Elizabeth (Burnham) Williams was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mildred Burnham on July 14, 1947, and fell asleep in death on December 16, 2021, at her home in Newton, Iowa.

On June 20, 1965, she married Jerry Allen Williams in Oskaloosa, Iowa. They made their home on the family farm in Rose Hill, Iowa, where Jerry was raised.

In 1967 they moved to Joliet, Illinois, and they started their family in 1969 with the birth of their first son, Jerry Dean, followed by the arrival of Scott Allen in 1971.

They moved to Downers Grove, Illinois, in 1972 where their family continued to grow. They welcomed Emily Marie in 1973, Phillip John in 1976, Amanda Lynne in 1979, and Robert Carl in 1983.

They returned to Iowa in 1995. On April 17, 2009, Jerry and Susan adopted Desmond James, Millicent Rose, and Penelope Elizabeth Williams.

Susan was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on February 2, 1975, and lived the remainder of her life as a faithful servant of Jehovah.

Susan's heart was as big as her smile and she never let anyone go without, meaning she took in strays of every kind, most of those strays eventually turned into family. Susan loved home projects and always had a long honey-do list for Jerry, including building a heated house for a beloved pot-bellied pig.

Surviving are her children, five sons and four daughters: Jay (Candice) Williams of Newton, Scott (Julie) Williams of Des Moines, Emily (Sean) Curtis of Dothan, Alabama, Phillip (Danielle) Williams of Newton, Amanda (David) Cline of Newton, Robert Williams of Grinnell, and Desmond, Millicent and Penelope of Newton.

Also remembering her are 16 grandchildren: two great-grandchildren; sister Katie Clark; and a nephew Jeff (Melanie) Tresslar.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband Jerry; her parents; and a nephew Matt Tresslar.
