Margaret was born Monday, April 18, 1949 in Rutherford County to the late Charlie Belk Upton and Laura V. Daggarhart Upton. She was a graduate of R-S Central High School and worked as a seamstress for Buster Brown Industries and J.C. Cowan. Margaret was the owner and operator of Carolina Auto Sales in Spindale for several years. She was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church and loved activities with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Gibson and brothers, Boyce and Charles Upton.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of forty-eight years, Michael E. Holmes; daughter, Angela Holmes (Johnny Weaver) of Mooresboro; three grandchildren, Braxton Keller (Samantha) of Forest City, Bailey Keller of Ft. Hood, Texas and Blaire Keller of Mooresboro; a sister, Betty Rohm of Rutherfordton and three brothers, Floyd Upton of Spindale, Michael Upton of Spindale, Jimmy Upton of Cliffside and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Margaret's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Bethany Baptist Church with Reverend Chris Fox and Reverend Marvin Green officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
