Joyce M. Brooks, age 77, passed away on December 15, 2021, at 12:22 pm, at Mercy Health – St. Rita's Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.

Joyce was born on June 13, 1944 in Elida to George Coolidge and Amanda (Glass) Coolidge, both of whom preceded her in death.

On December 18, 1965 she married her beloved husband, Dennis L. Brooks, who preceded her in death on August 9, 2012.

She graduated from Elida High School and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She was born and raised in Elida and was a dedicated life long member of Elida Immanuel Church. Sharing in fellowship with her church family was one of her greatest joys. For many years she was involved with the church women's group. She had a servant's heart and was passionate about caring for others.

She was famous for her prayer shawls, of which she made hundreds over the years for those in need, recovering from grief, or even people who just needed to know that someone cared for them.

She was the sweetest person that anyone could have had the pleasure of knowing and her famous smile could light up any room.

Above all else, she loved her family. She touched many lives as she raised her children, and was a major part of raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent every second of her free time with her "great grandbabies," who affectionately knew her as "grandma play-doh." Joyce was an exceptional person, and will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Survivors include: children, Darin (Terri) Brooks of Spencerville, Judy (JR) Long of Elida, and Amber (J.R.) Kerns of Lima; sibling, Gloria (Jim) Miller; grandchildren, Kelsey (Steven) Richards of Delphos, Tracey (Tyler) Bauer of Columbus Grove, Paul Long of Elida, and Kaitlynn Brooks of Spencerville; as well as great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Koralynn, Gabriella, and Colton.

Preceded in death by: parents, George and Amanda Coolidge; spouse, Dennis L. Brooks; as well as siblings, Tom Coolidge and Ron Coolidge.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Elida Immanuel Church, with viewing from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Burial will follow the service at Salem Mennonite Cemetery. A public viewing will take place on the evening prior, Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes Shawnee chapel. Rev.
