Linda Lee Burge
August 5, 1947 - December 3, 2021

Linda Lee Burge, 74, of Sturgis, South Dakota, died Friday, December 3, 2021, at Monument Health Spearfish Hospital in Spearfish, SD.

She was born on August 5, 1947, at the Martin Nursing Home in Sturgis to Marvin and Julia (Jordan) Kenoyer. She grew up on Alkali Divide on the family farm and attended grade school in a one room schoolhouse through the 8th grade. She graduated from Sturgis High School in 1965.

Linda's activities in high school included editor of the 1965 Mato Paha; member of Latin Club; 1965 Honor Graduate and one of three representatives at Girls' State in the spring of 1964.

On August 29, 1965, she married the love of her life Dwayne Burge, in Sturgis, SD. During their 55 plus years of marriage they took many trips to motorcycle races and events throughout the region. They raised different breeds of dogs and some were entered in dog shows, some as far away as San Diego, California. Their favorite breed was their "Labs". Linda and Dwayne also met many new friends running their "Red Barn RV Park."

For many years Linda worked at St. Regis/Wheeler Lumber, in Whitewood, until her unfortunate diagnosis of multiple sclerosis forced her into medical retirement. She assisted Dwayne with running Linda B's catering on Main Street in Sturgis. During the Sturgis Motorcycle rally in the 1980's and early 1990's she had the best-known Indian Taco stand, that too, sadly had to close down due to her illness.

Linda's hobbies included reading books/magazines, watching TV, playing cards and board games with her grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Matt (Darla) Burge, Sturgis; three grandchildren, Marlee, Jordan, and Hayden Burge, Sturgis; one brother, John (Rose) Kenoyer, Poway, CA; one sister-in-law, Barb (Kenny) Yates, Sturgis, and 2 nieces and 2 nephews.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Dwayne, and her parents, Marvin and Julia.

In lieu of flowers, plant a lilac bush or wild yellow rose bush in her honor. Those were her favorite flowers on the ranch.
