Dies On Leyte
The war department today has notified John Aiello, a farmer living at Route 2, Box 50, Fresno, that his son, Private First Class Vincent J. Aiello, 22, was killed in action November 9th on the island of Leyte.
Vincent Aiello was born in the Clovis district and lived here until he entered the army November 10, 1942. He was graduated from the Clovis High School and engaged in farming here.
An infantryman, he received his basic training at Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, and in Australia. He fought in the campaign for Dutch New Guinea before participating in the Leyte invasion.
In addition to his father, he leaves three brothers, Dominic, Tony and Robert, and two sisters, Miss Francis Aiello and Mrs. Josephine Roveto, all of Clovis.
