Joseph E. Collins, known as Joe, 75, of Columbia, died peacefully December 3rd, 2021, at Gilchrist Hospice of Howard County.
Born April 4th, 1946, in Washington DC, the son of Aileen (Collins) Wright & Jesse Wright, the eldest of seven children. Joe attended Luther Jackson High School, & later served with the US Air Force. After service, he was briefly employed with the DOT, before finding a home with O'Donnell Honda for 29 years. Joe played defensive tackle for the DC Bears & named to All-Conference, winning several championships. Working in the automotive industry, he met his wife, & they settled in Columbia, Maryland. They had two children, his girls, & found enjoyment in watching football, fishing, fashion, music, & meeting new people.
Joe's story is of a love to connect with people. He could communicate in an instant; sensitivity, laughter, & the joy of getting to know one another.
He is predeceased by: his brothers, Theodore Wright, Hareem Badil-Abish (Bay), Clyde Wright; father, Jesse Wright; & a host of other in-laws. He leaves to cherish in his memory: his wife, Johnna Nagiecki; two daughters, Anneke Collins, Maya Collins; mother, Aileen (Collins) Wright; siblings, in-laws & a large loving family.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held in early April 2022. The family can be reached at 410-978-4846 for more info.
