On Friday afternoon, September 17, 2021, our hero, Don Bishop (86), passed away at his home in Liberty, Missouri. His passing was quiet, calm and dignified. There is no way to describe this versatile, artistic, tractor loving, hard working man that was dearly loved by his family and friends.

Don is survived by his wife, Joyce; his son Doug Bishop (North Garden, VA) and daughters Laura Bishop Altman (David/Lincoln, Nebraska), Kathleen Bishop Newman (Mike/Kansas City, MO). His four grandson's were his heart: Dakota & Logan Altman and Jackson & Mark Newman.

Our Don was born in Mexico, Missouri, and spent his young life on the family farm with his parents, John T and Lillian Davis Bishop; sisters Shirley Keller (Columbia), Nancy Graham (Don/Columbia) and Mary Glidewell-Burke (Blue Springs).

Farming, his feed mill and millwrighting were his vocations. Don had many friends from high school, the Marines, his Union and the community. He and his family lived in Montgomery City, Vandalia and Laddonia before moving to Liberty for work in the Millwright Union.

Don never met a stranger, he was kind and gracious to everyone. He was strong, a warrior and a fighter for life.

His family will miss him forever.

An intimate celebration of life for family and friends will be held at Park Lawn Funeral Home at 1640 N. M-291 Hwy. Liberty, MO, on Tuesday, September 21 at 2 p.m. We would like to thank Traditions Health Hospice and the staff at Park Lawn Funeral Home for their understanding and gentle ways.
