YORKTOWN, VA. – Edna B. Haggerty, 71, passed away from cancer on Saturday, March 10, 2007. Edna was born in Princess Anne County, Va. in 1936. Her first position was with Seaboard Citizens National Bank in Norfolk as a teller. She was later transferred to Citizens Marine Jefferson Bank in Newport News, and stayed with that organization through many name changes, before retiring from Suntrust Bank at the end of 39 years as AVP and Branch Manager. She was a resident of York County for 35 years and leaves many friends.

Edna was a member of St Luke's Methodist Church in Yorktown and served in different positions over the years. She was a member of the York exchange Club for a few years. While serving as President, she initiated the Santa Breakfast for Children in York County and also the program of donating school supplies to underprivileged students in York County.

Edna is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joseph Haggerty; a son, Doyle Keith and his wife, Rachel of Yorktown; her sisters Rosa Poyner of Virginia Beach and Sandra Livesay of Mesa, Arizona; a cousin George Land; nieces, Teresa Garris, Amy McCrea; and nephews Kenneth Poyner and Brad Livesay.
Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8:00 PM on Friday evening, March 16, in Saint Luke's United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the York County Women United Food Closet, c/o Saint Luke's United Methodist Church, 300 Ella Taylor Road, Yorktown, VA 23692.
