She worked at WATD radio station in Plymouth, MA for several years as a bookkeeper working her way up to Project Manager while raising her two children.
In 1992, she moved to Charleston, SC, where she worked as an Assistant Project Manager for Gulf Stream Construction and then The Lisi Company until her retirement.
Diane loved the water; she was happiest when she was sailing or strolling the beach looking for seashells and beach glass. She loved to ride the waves with her kids and grandkids and could spend hours enjoying the sun, surf and sand. Tuna fish sandwiches with a touch of sand in them and green grapes were a staple for lunch at the beach. She was an avid bird watcher and would go to great lengths to ensure the birds got every bit of their seed, and that pesky squirrels did not get a morsel. She loved to work in the yard and garden. She was an accomplished seamstress and could knit and needlepoint as well. Later in life, she discovered her artistic ability and loved to draw and paint. She loved singing and enjoyed her choir at the Lowcountry Senior Center on James Island.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 5-7 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home on James Island. There will also be a viewing on December 22nd at JJ Shepard Funeral Home in Kingston, MA followed immediately by a burial at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury, MA.
