Rock Hill, South Carolina - Mr. Jeffrey E Matthews, 54, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at CMC Atrium Health Main, Charlotte, NC, with his wife by his side.
Born in Rock Hill, SC, Jeff was the son of the late Jesse Edward Matthews and the late Maxine Stewart Matthews-Poore. A 1985 Rock Hill High School graduate, Jeff spent many years traveling the world, choreographing beautiful fireworks events. He was most recently employed with Classic Tile and Marble Inc, in Charlotte, NC.
Jeff was loved by many. He had an abundance of nieces and nephews who always considered him the 'favorite uncle' because he always did fun things with them. His favorite hobbies included fishing, gardening, and carpentry. He loved building things around the home, working on projects with his grandsons, and spending time in the backyard listening to music with his wife, dogs, and kitty.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 24 years, Shannon Summey Matthews; three brothers, Jesse "Marty" (Donna) Matthews of Rock Hill, Joel (Marie) Matthews of Rock Hill, Jason (Sabrina) Matthews of Rock Hill; his sister, Judith (John) Briggs of Fort Mill; two daughters, Alex (Will) Jordan of Fort Mill, and Chandler (Garrett) Brown of Trinity, NC; his six grandchildren, Kire, Nole, and Reyn Jordan, & Finn, Felix, and Astor Brown; two brothers-in-law, Gordon (Jean) Summey of Rock Hill, Bill (Jennifer) Summey of Dalton, GA; two sisters-in-law, Dayna (Eric) Duffy of Rocky Face, GA, Deedee (Chad) Buzzard of Charlotte, NC; and his mother-in-law, Billie Summey of Rock Hill and father-in-law, Gordon (Debbie) Summey of Spartanburg, SC.
There will be a drop-in at the home Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 2:3 to 4:30 pm. Other services will be private.
