Barbara graduated from Weaver High School in 1943 and then attended Hampton University in Hampton Virginia. She married the late Horace B. James, Jr. in June of 1946. The couple was blessed with seven children. She had a passion for helping children with special needs and worked in the Bloomfield school system for twenty years as a para -professional.
Barbara was active in the lives of all of her children and grandchildren. She was affectionately called Ma, Grandma, Bobbie or Auntie Bobbie and was always ready to make herself available when she was needed. She is survived by her seven children. She will also be missed by her 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Be encouraged to know that our mother was a blessing to all and we are better people because she took up residence in our lives. She leaves us with much to think about and so much more to be thankful for. Her memory, like her love for all, is steadfast and eternal.
We leave this beautiful angel to rest.
