Graveside services for Ms. Velma J. Tibbs Wright, 77, of Bossier City, LA, formerly of Springdale, AR, will be held Monday, August 10, 2020 at 2pm at the Rocky Mount Cemetery in Rocky Mount, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Plain Dealing. Visitation will be held at Bailey Funeral Home of Plain Dealing on Sunday, August 9, 2020 from 5pm-7pm. Ms. Wright passed into eternal rest on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. She was born to the late Henderson C. Tibbs and Maggie B. Bounds Tibbs, both of the Rocky Mount community. A graduate of Rocky Mount High School, she played the position of guard with the Rocky Mount Rockets girls basketball team. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Veronica Lynn Wright in 1965, mother, Maggie B. Bounds Tibbs in 1975, father Henderson C. Tibbs in 1981 and a sister, Bennie M. Tibbs Smith in 1989. Leaving behind to treasure her memory are her sister, Margaret A. Pierce and husband Thomas R. of Springdale, AR, daughter Terrie E. Lopez, son, Gregory T. Wright and wife Stephanie, all of Bossier City, LA; son, Matthew L. Wright and wife Robin of Madison, GA and Gordon S. Wright of Palm Coast, FL. She is also survived by five grandchildren; Veronica L. Welch, Donald Lopez, Jr and wife Ashley, Dustin S. Wright and Maddie Cucos, all of Bossier City, LA; Jennifer Fox of Madison, GA and Chris Gobel of Snellville, GA; eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family.
