HOWLAND — Theodore J. Smith, 69, passed away peacefully with his nieces by his side at 11:22 PM Saturday, December 4, 2021, in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph Warren Hospital, following a bout with COVID-19. He was born October 21, 1952, in Warren, the son of the late Robert and Alberta Donna Kirkwood Smith, and he was a lifelong area resident. Ted was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and retired after working 30 years at Packard Electric. He enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Warren Raiders. Ted was a huge Cleveland Browns fan, and enjoyed going to the movies every weekend. Family was important to Ted and he enjoyed every moment spent with them while making many memories with his nieces and nephews. He will forever be missed and will always be in their hearts. Fond memories will forever be cherished by his sister, Diane Richards of Warren; his three nieces, Melissa Richards of Warren, Dawn Brooks of Howland and Amanda Richards of Warren; great-nephews, Brandon Richards of Howland, Alex Richards of Warren, Austyn Richards of Warren and Jayden Varley of Howland; great-nieces, Krista Richards of Warren and Marissa Varley of Howland; and great-great-nephew, Hudson Richards of Howland. He was preceded in death by his parents. There will be no calling hours and a private service for the family took place at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home. Burial followed in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna. Arrangements were entrusted to Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, OH 44483.
