Thomas Eugene "Tom" Wright of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Tuesday afternoon, December 14, 2021, in the Stillwater Medical – Blackwell at the age of 74 years.
Tom Wright was born on June 5, 1947, in Atchison, Kansas, to Thomas L. and Naomi M. (Mathias) Wright. As a young boy he moved with his family to Ottumwa, Iowa, where he attended school and graduated high school in 1965. Following his education he entered the United States Navy for a short time until a medical discharge. He then attended Bible College before beginning his career in the coffee business. He worked for Hills Brothers Coffee, Cain's Coffee and Sara Lee where he worked as a warehouse manager. While working for Sara Lee, he returned to college and attended Baker University in Kansas receiving a bachelors degree in business. He married Leasa M. Schauer on June 30, 2010, in Lawrence, Kansas, and there settled there until his retirement. In 2010 they moved to Blackwell where he worked as the manager of Jiffy Tripp for several years. He was a member of the Never Again Bikers Club and N.A. in Blackwell. He enjoyed riding his bike, gardening, target shooting and being with his friends and family. Tom was known for never meeting a stranger.
