Darrell accepted Christ at an early age and was recently celebrating twenty years of sobriety. He was an active board member of O.U.R. Community Center and a dedicated member of Alive After 5 Group of Cocaine Anonymous. Darrell worked for the City of Little Rock for over a decade in Fleet Services. He was a source of laughter and joy to many and he never met a stranger. He was someone you could depend on to brighten your day and make you laugh. He was the peace maker of the family and self-appointed psychologist. The family called him "Mr. Fix it." He loved to fix things and was a jack of all trades.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Patrice Smith; siblings, Tracy Houston Rollins, Gregory "Duck" Smith, Billy Smith, Willie Lee Morris, Mack "Louis" Morris, Johnny Morris, Helen Moore, Patsy Ridgell; and Nephew, Ray Anthony Bobo.
Survivors: children, Maria Hairston, Darrell Hairston, Chelsea Smith, Destiny Smith and Michael Murphy all of Little Rock, AR; siblings, Leonard Stokes, Sr. of Little Rock, AR, Jacqueline Houston Davis of Dallas, TX; thirteen grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Greater Nation International Church, 5705 W. 65th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas. Celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021, 12:00 P.M. at Greater Nation International Church. Committal service and final resting place: Arkansas Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8507 AR-161, North Little Rock, Arkansas.
